Bag

I am making this bag for the quilt group christmas swap.  The pattern is from a Country Threads magazine of a few years ago.  We are each making a bag of our choice to swap for the gift. I finally had a go at stitching the quilting with pearl cotton and a large milliners needle,  the quilting was quickly finished.  
The next block for my butterfly garden quilt arrived in the post today - so I am looking forward to stitching it together now.

Contentment

I spent Tuesday rearranging and painting in anticipation of a new outdoor setting we bought.

I,ve started painting some of my things white-it gives a new fresh change.  I was happily content all day painting and rearranging.  Now I just have to tidy my mess.  I emptied cupboards that were doing nothing but hoarding unused stuff - that left no room for what does get use... now I will have a neater, tidier house.

garden quilt

I have been workng on my Annie's garden quilt from this book by Material Obsession.  These are the daisy blocks - it's a long way around each daisy, butonhole stitching by hand...

We went to a surprise 50th Birthday celebration, for a quilting friend last night - her cake was decorated as a quilt.
Indy car race weekend has been on the TV all weekend, in our house..  Son (2) rang up on Saturday and said he has been at Indy for 3 days - today makes 4.

Quilt Retreat 2008

My windmill quilt, this quilt was made at our groups quilt retreat earlier this year...

I recently added borders... alittle pale, but until finished had no idea how it would turn out.

Piece squares together first and then recut and resew to make the windmills... a surprise how it turns out -but fun exploring the idea.  Considering quilting it with pearl cotton... in a pale blue/green.

sunny day

Sun is shining today after a couple of days overcast and showers.  Pink peace roses from my garden, the most I've had on the rose bush at one time.
Another star patch completed for my Postcards from the Past quilt.  This will be added to block 8.  The thought that comes with block 8 is  ....... " Bathe in the Warmth of Summer's Beauty"....  These sayings can be added to the blocks with embroidery or pen.. but I will just ponder on them.

Later today we are off to a nearby beach town for an informal barbecue/farewell party for family members that are heading north to start a new life/adventure.  They are heading north where crocodiles are in the nearby creek and it's humid and hot--we wish them the best for their new future.

bow tie quilt

My bow tie quilt I have been working on - hand quilting. Have been just outline quilting each piece. The wadding is wool - not sure if it should have more quilting then just around each piece.  

Slightly cloudy here today, nice mild day for some gardening.  My husband pulling weeds from his wheelchair.

Rainy, Saturday afternoon, cup cake baking for afternoon tea.

This quilt  block is a Robyn Pandolph block of the month I began some years ago.  The plan is to finish one block a week and have the 12 blocks finished by 12 weeks .

getting well

this is how Peter, my husband has spent most of the last year getting well, after a major traffic accident, on the Pacific Hwy, we were both in.

A year of pain, and surgery - hopfully some improvement soon.
