Sunny day

We went to the nearby beach town today, so my husband could have the latest x-ray and CT scan on his right leg.

The earthrace boat was at the town jetty for people to have a look on board.

The earthrace boat bought people out to enjoy the sunshine...
Masses of little fish in the river...a good sign for the river.  The water looked clear and inviting.
The pelican sculpture...it moves in the wind like a weather vane.

We had an afternoon thundery storm...with rain to water the garden.

The table set for Christmas lunch...we had a very pleasant day.  Wasn't too hot like previous years.  I didn't think to take any pictures through the day.  Our younger son was home.  I leave my decorations up for a few days then pack them away for another year.

Little Holiday

We had a little holiday for a few days on the Gold Coast...where our son lives for now.
We had not been to visit since he shifted there about a year ago...
Went to the market... to the shopping centre and just had a break.

View from his unit.

Posy Block Quilt

I finished the binding on this little flower quilt... I only had to stitch the corners.
It has a Christmas theme, even though I didn't make it for Christmas. So I thought I would fold it on the end of a bed.
This quilt is called posy blocks and it from the little book called Buttermilk Farm and designed by Teri Christophenson.

I really like how simple the style is...

The window of the local florist shop has this display for christmas...tree and wreath made from split cane. Very modern and very nice!
The past week has gone really fast... quilt group christmas party was a lovely day.  Swapped our bags...mine went to Mt Isa.

Been to a couple of medical appointments during the week and shopping  for christmas a couple of times. Generally the week just passed by too quickly.

Fabric and more christmas decorations

A second post as I have not worked out how to put extra pictures into a post... I haven't posted for a few days so there were a number of photos.

Some fabric buying I have done...I'm into buying small pieces of fabric since working on Leanne House quilts.  As I like how she uses lots of different fabrics - I just would not have thought to put together.

I haven't done a lot of stitching this week...just a little on my butterfly garden quilt.  Been to the dentist for my second appointment...one to go.  Life gets a little bogged down sometimes with the stress of my DH injuries. We were told by the doctors from the beginning that recovery would be a slow progress...it's been nearly two  years now.

I just love Christmas decorations...each year I add a couple to my collection. I found this ceramic Santa bell in spotlight...also this wire Christmas tree.  I love the traditional decorations but am also very taken by the glittery modern style too...so the tree inside is traditional and the wire tree with shiny baubles is for the outdoor area.

Bag finished

I finished the bag for my quilt group Christmas swap...I'm happy with how it turned out. I wanted to make a sasy bag but only came up with this pattern, as bag patterns aren't something I've bought. I'm going to package it up in the red santa bag and include the reindeer I found.
Our Christmas party is this weekend...so all I have to do now is prepare the food I'm taking.

The sunny day by the river was first - followed by a very threatening storm... it really is a beautiful river!  It never ceases to remind me how glorious it is.

Christmas tree pulled out of it's storage spot... lights added. Only one bulb needed replacing and all work! The tree fits neatly into this little space by the fire. And I still love the fence!
Now to add the decorations... these paper machete stars and hearts are my favourite... I've had them for a lot of years. They still make my heart sing.
The finished tree... I almost forgot I acquired the standing santa last year...no the year before.
I have xmas tree ornaments from my two sons travells...a tin santa from Italy, a tin sheep with santa hat from New Zealand.
And santa under the southern cross I made a number of years ago...
Just, need to add my wreath to the front door...a couple of things out the back.

Red Delicious BOM

I found this BOM and decided to join in as I have a collection of red fat quarters. estheraliu.blogspot.com
My collection of reds came about from my quilt groups birthday present.  We each choose a fabric theme and then each member gives a fat quarter in that theme.  Mine this year was reds- I kept it simple... I do have another quilt in progress in red fabrics.  The different themes included japanese, african, greens, unusual, 30's, purple and teal, pretties, black and white, blue and red...it was a fun idea for a birthday swap.  Now I have to think up what I would like next year.

Small trip

Christmas organising began... bought the wrapping paper.  Trying to keep Christmas simple...I liked this Christmas tree wrapping paper then found these gold stars, trees and baubles for gift tags.  The string I bought a few years ago at Country Road, I have used it for gift wrapping previously.  I like the natural look it creates...
We have been away since Wednesday... a medical appointment in a town 3 hours away.  We got to travel in style - made the trip very easy. I got some time to look around the shops in the main part of the town.  The town was a lot busier than the pictures seem to show.

Simple pleasure.... casually shopping
